Insurance

Dental Insurance is different from Medical Insurance. Many patients aren’t familiar with the specifics of their dental insurance benefits. Your dental benefits are based on the agreement your employer negotiated with your insurance carrier. Please review the insurance benefit booklet provided by your employer to better understand the benefits they make available as part of your insurance coverage. The patient payment portion covered for procedures varies depending on the coverage provided by your employer.

An estimate of the amount covered by your insurance company will be provided at the time of your treatment, based on the information they provide to us. The estimate is never a guarantee of benefits or the amount that will be paid. We will file all insurance claims as a courtesy to our patients. This does not however, transfer the responsibility of your financial obligation to the insurance company. If the amount paid by the insurance company is less than or greater than the estimate, then you will be billed the difference or issued a credit on the account in the event of an overpayment. Please let us know if you have questions about our financial policies or financing options prior to your treatment.

What exactly is a Dental Insurance "Preferred Provider"?

Many people have been misled by Dental Insurance Companies marketing the services of their contracted dentists as “Preferred Providers” with the inference that they have been selectively chosen on the basis of skill and integrity.

Nothing could be further from the truth.

Dental Insurance preferred provider dentists are those who have agreed to Contract Terms and Conditions dictated by a Dental Insurance Company and provide services to Insurance members inline with the conditions, restrictions and discounted reimbursement schedule the Dental Insurance Companies stipulate in their insurance policies.

They do not have special skill sets or other attributes to elevate them above Out-of Network dentists.

They have become preferred providers to Dental Insurance Companies to benefit their own commercial interests, NOT because of the level of care they can offer to you, the patient.

Consider this: If your dentist has agreed to a discounted fee, where is he/she compromising to make up the difference?

Your ideal preferred provider is an Independent dentist who is free to offer all treatments and options using the highest quality equipment and supplies without compromise. Your care should be determined by your chosen doctor and you, without the insurance company interfering for their own commercial gain.

Although most dental insurance companies don't advertise it, it is the rare company that will not cover an out-of-network claim.

Please keep in mind, your insurance contract is between you and the insurance company. We are happy to submit your claim for you as a courtesy, but you are responsible for all financial obligations incurred during treatment.
